Hear two nationally-recognized keynote speakers, learn from several interactive breakout sessions, meet educators and others working with children in Summit County and discover the importance of early childhood education in the community.
Summit County First Things First partners invite child advocates from all fields and backgrounds to attend the third annual School Readiness Summit on Friday, October 16 at John S. Knight Center. After all, it is up to community members to provide kids with the resources they need to achieve at their highest potential.
This highly-anticipated event welcomed nearly 800 attendees from several professional fields in 2018. This year, Akron Community Foundation’s generous “Our Kids” sponsorship will bring us Robert Putnam, one of two nationally recognized keynote speakers joining us for the full-day event. While Putnam will kick-off the Summit, keynote speaker Dr. Kathy Hirsh-Pasek will present during lunch. Attendees will participate in engaging breakout sessions, as well as listen to Summit Education Initiative’s annual community report on educational attainment, an addition to this year’s Summit program. SEI’s mission is to improve personal and regional prosperity in Summit County through increased educational attainment. Because the trajectory toward success in life starts before the first day of school, investing in early childhood education is very important. (And, as we emphasized during last year’s Summit, increasing school readiness is a commYOUnity effort.) Our region ultimately gains a larger skilled talent force when local businesses make this important investment. Ready to invest in the future of Summit County?
