The sound of strings will fill EJ Thomas Hall when two stellar quartets come together in October Octets.
Dover String Quartet catapulted to international stardom following a stunning sweep of the 2013 Banff Competition. The ensemble was recently named the Cleveland Quartet Award winner and awarded the coveted Avery Fisher Career Grant.
The quartet’s rise from up-and-coming young ensemble to occupying a spot at the top of their field has been “practically meteoric” (Strings).
Escher String Quartet is Tuesday Musical’s quartet-in-residence.
October Octets will include the world premiere of an octet by Gregg Kallor, Tuesday Musical's composer-in-residence.
Before the concert: Hear about the challenges and joys of four playing as eight during the Concert Conversation with the Dover and Escher musicians at 6:30 p.m. in EJ’s Flying Balcony Club. Accessible by elevator, the Flying Balcony Club features lounge seating and libations.
Tickets: $45, $40 and $25 in advance and at the door. Student tickets are free for all Tuesday Musical concerts. 330-761-3460 or www.tuesdaymusical.org.
