In 1965, Craig Debock and three of his buddies at Washington High School in Massillon started a band that’s still together 50 years later with its original lineup intact and known as LaFlavour. The group began playing music from the British Invasion, then Motown with the Temptations and Four Tops, then came Chicago and Blood, Sweat & Tears. The disco era is what really put LaFlavour on the map. In the ’70s, ’80s, ’90s, the band played weekly and began traveling to play Florida in the winter and also played in Atlantic City after adding a Las vegas style floor show. The group even recorded a hit in 1979 called “Mandolay” that was on the Billboard charts for six months. It was a big disco record, a hot on radio around the country and the big discos of the day.
