We’re celebrating Akron’s bicentennial with the world premiere of the Fanfare for Akron, composed by Peter Boyer and commissioned by Tuesday Musical’s Myers New Music Fund.
Featuring an array of festive works and as a nod to Tuesday Musical’s past tradition of presenting The Cleveland Orchestra (TCO), the Akron Bicentennial Concert showcases TCO’s brass and percussion sections, led by TCO principal trumpet Michael Sachs. Boyer will conduct his new Fanfare for Akron.
(Plus, working with 6-time Grammy-winner Elaine Martone, we’re professionally recording Fanfare for Akron for enduring, open-access use at Akron civic events.)
Peter Boyer has a musical passion for American history and legacy. His Grammy-nominated Ellis Island: The Dream of America, for actors and orchestra, has become one of the most performed American orchestral works of the past two decades, including six performances in 2023 by The Cleveland Orchestra. The Pacific Symphony’s performance of Ellis Island was televised nationally in 2018 on PBS’ Great Performances.
Don’t miss this festival season finale of Tuesday Musical’s 2024-25 Akron Concert Series.
