Global Lens Film Series: I Am From Titov Veles (Jas Sum Od Titov Veles)
In this contemporary story of urban decay set in the quaint but scarred town of Veles, three sisters burdened by memories of their late father long to escape the suffocating environment of their dying community. 102 minutes, in Macedonian with English subtitles. This program is FREE with first-come, first-serve seating available in the auditorium.
Presented by Kent State University, Kent State Stark University and the Akron Art Museum, the 2009 Global Lens Film Series features the theatrical release of ten films by important, emerging artists hailing from China to Argentina, Macedonia to Mozambique. Now in it's sixth season, the Global Lens Film Series promotes cross-cultural understanding through the medium of cinema, providing a platform for exceptional storytelling that opens a window into the diverse world in which we live.
From October 16 - 25, Kent State University will screen all ten films on its Main Campus; screening dates at the Kent State Stark campus are yet to be determined. Many screenings will be followed by discussions about cultural similarities and differences evoked by films, moderated by experts from the Kent State University faculty.

The 2009 Northeast Ohio Global Lens Film Series is organized and presented by Kent State University Libraries and the Department of History.
