Dreamland: Recent Paintings by Neil MacDonald

The Akron Art Museum has an ongoing commitment to presenting the work of regional artists and to demonstrating the depth, wealth and quality of artistic activity in Northeast Ohio. This exhibition will feature work from two different series by painter Neil Macdonald, who lives in Stow, Ohio and earned a BFA from the Cleveland Institute of Art in 1982 and an MFA in Painting from Kent State University in 2001. Working from television and print media imagery, Macdonald creates grids of pixilated scenes that explore how mythology is created in contemporary society. Included will be scenes of natural and manmade disasters and of much speculated upon phenomena such as the 1947 Roswell Incident. Macdonald’s paintings function as beautiful, mysterious landscape paintings.
