Amelia Earhart is Coming to Barberton!
Wednesday, October 28 at 6:30 p.m.
Amelia Earhart (1897-1937), world record setting aviator and legendary American icon, helped to reshape perceptions of women and became a symbol of female achievement. In 1932, she became the first woman to fly the Atlantic alone, and a few years later made the first ever solo flight from Hawaii to the U.S. mainland. Earhart aspired to fly the globe, attempting twice, but her career ended abruptly when her plane vanished over the Pacific on July 2, 1937. To this day, her sudden disappearance remains a captivating mystery of a fascinating life cut short. For years her story has been told in books, television and film, and now her story is coming to life at the Barberton Public Library as actress and noted historical performer Carol Starre-Kmiecik presents a living biography of Amelia Earhart as the woman who captured the hearts and minds of a nation.
