Description:

This course is designed to provide motivated individuals with the information and skills necessary to succeed as an entry-level veterinary assistant in a small animal practical setting. Discussion and lectures will include topics on preventive medicine, radiology, basic pharmacy, animal handling and restraint, and more. Emphasis will be placed on the development of effective communication skills and team building principles. Clinical training will take place to allow students to experience veterinary assisting firsthand.
Textbook required. Lecture and discussion: 30 hours, clinical training, 20 hours. Clinical hours will be scheduled after class begins. No discounts apply.
