CERTIFIED STERILE PROCESSING AND DISTRIBUTION TECHNICIAN
Sterile Processing/Central Service is a field dedicated to supporting the healthcare industry with supplies and equipment. The Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) develops and administers competency-based certification examinations for personnel performing cleaning, disinfection, sterilization and inventory management activities, regardless of the setting. Upon successful completion of this course you will be eligible for the first level Technician exam. You will learn sterilization practices and procedures, microbiology, infection control, decontamination, manual and mechanical cleaning, instrument inspection and assembly, methods of disinfection and sterilization, sterile storage, inventory control, material management, and distribution. Class format will include lecture, discussion, demonstration and practice. Clinical observation at sterile processing /central service departments in the Akron area may be offered. Text books, $180.
