Think roses are difficult to grow? Let rose expert Peter Schneider show you the secret! All you need to do is choose the right rose for the location and conditions in which you’ll plant it. Schneider describes the specific characteristics of hundreds of roses and helps you decide which ones are right for the spot you have in mind—in a flower bed, in a border, as a hedge or privacy screen, on a trellis, along a fence, in a container, and more. Peter Schneider has been editing the Combined Rose List, the annual directory of roses in commerce, since 1992. His book, Right Rose Right Place will be available for sale after his presentation. Desirable Trees for the Midwest will be available for sale after his presentation. Family activities include: 11 a.m.-noon Children’s Library: Saturday Story Time Sampler. Enjoy story time with a gardening theme. 2-3:30 p.m. Children’s Library: How does your garden grow? Hands-on-activities for the whole family. Please sign up in advance. OSU Master Gardeners in a host of hands-on activities sure to have you "thinking spring." Dig in and plant seeds for your summer garden, start a houseplant and much more. Program provided with support from OSU Master Gardeners of Summit County, Akron Men’s Garden Club, Petitti Garden Center and Burpee Seeds.
